Addicts of caffeine or the Internet can find enabling at UMCOR’s exhibit area at General Conference 2012. There’s a charging station for iPhones and other devices, right next to a coffee bar.
Visitors were invited to try free samples of Hope’s Blend, a new coffee blend offered by Equal Exchange, a free-trade coffee sold in partnership with UMCOR. Churches and other groups that purchase Equal Exchange coffee (as well as tea, chocolate and other products) support a network that enables farmers in Latin America, Africa and Asia to stay on their land, support their families and care for the environment.
Sydney Aye, a member of Psalmodia UMC’s choir visiting from the Ivory Coast, tried a small square of Equal Exchange’s free-trade chocolate and pronounced it delicious. “C’est bon,” she said. “It’s good.”

Darya Mattes of Equal Exchange passes out samples of free-trade coffee.
