Fashions from the Congo

General Conference attendees who are coveting the colorful attire of the African delegates have the opportunity to buy their own – and support a good cause.

Diane Murphy, an attendee from the Northwest Texas conference, shops the clothing rack in the "Gifts from the Congo" section of the Cokesbury store at General Conference.

The Women’s Division of the United Methodist Church in the South Congo is selling an array of beautiful handmade garments and jewelry at the Cokesbury Store at General Conference. Proceeds will benefit a ministry to more than 350 street children in the South Congo, according to UMW members Karumb Mansang and Kusumb Kapend Christine, who staffed the shop.

Delegate Karumb Mansang from South-West Katanga in the Congo helped shoppers in the "Gifts from the Congo" section.
