Gangler, Special Contributor HENRYVILLE, Ind.—Hoosier United Methodists joined with corporations and other groups on Oct. 8 to kick off with Habitat for Humanity of Indiana a million-dollar “Raise the Roof Over Southern Indiana” Blitz Build project in Henryville’s south-side Twin Oaks subdivision. The houses are for survivors whose homes were destroyed by the deadly, March 2 tornadoes that ripped through this and other small southern Indiana towns and communities in a 40-mile path of destruction. Indiana Area Bishop Michael J. Coyner on Oct. 15 published his criticisms of the Western Jurisdiction’s stand against the United Methodist Church’s teaching on homosexuality.Delegates to the Western Jurisdiction’s meeting July 18-21 adopted a “Statement of Gospel Obedience” that says the denomination is in error in its stance that the practice of homosexuality “is incompatible with Christian teaching.” The jurisdiction’s statement also urged United Methodists to operate as if that stance in Paragraph 161F of the Book of Discipline, the denomination’s law book, “does not exist, creating a church where [...]

UMC finance agency warns about East Africa Conference and files complaint against Bishop Wandabula
